Budget Kitchen Update Before

This was done as a collaboration between myself and my mother, who happened to be my first client. We had lived in this house for several years and with a growing family with boyfriends and friends alike we new we wanted to bump out the house and do a major renovation within the next three years. In the mean time with the amount that we were hosting a kitchen updated was needed, on a budget. The goals of this kitchen update where to lighten the space, update the floors and counters.

Budget Kitchen Update After

Brightening up the kitchen was the number one goal, however we did not want an all white kitchen, so we chose two neutral colours for the perimeter and a dark charcoal for the base cabinets to help hide the dirt, grime and food, the upper cabinets are an off-white and the island to make it feel more like a piece of furniture so we painted it out a deep burgundy colour. With the thought that this is a temporary solution and everything will be ripped out in a couple years, we decided to use laminate counters and accent the coffee bar with a butchers block. Keeping the design classic and timeless was important.
